The NTSB report was very clear about what happened. If he "took his own life", it was only in the sense that he had little experience in the aircraft he was flying, as well as a poorly designed fuel tank selection switch, and being a smaller man the aircraft was designed for.

Continued... Those, who were close to John, knowing this, believe that the plane crash, which took his life, was intentional.
However, if true, this no way diminishes John's genius as a song writer and performer. I thank God that we had the privilege to have a talent like John's for as long as we did.

And it was a daughter she was recording tapes for :) I remember this movie too. I cried like a baby too when I saw it. I wish they would run the movie again sometimes.

gbr, I can get misty thinking of the movie and would LOVE to see it again.
The movie's name was Sunshine, but Susan Dey wasn't in it. The 2 females were Chrintina Raines and Meg Foster. I'm pretty sure the it was Christina who was dying.
Why can't they rerun movies like this???

Are you saying that he wrote My Sweet Lady for his 2nd wife? B/c that's impossible, My Sweet Lady 1st appeared on John Denver Poem's, Prayer's & Promises album released in 1971.
